The Lovely Ladybug (& More!)

One of Fashion Dazzle’s many participants this month is TRS Designs. The in world location has a little bit of everything for the ladies. Whether you’re looking for clothes, hair, or cute accessories you can find it there. The main store also hosts gacha, group gifts, and midnight mania. The Marketplace location has nearly 3,000 products for sale. The clothing comes in all styles from elegant to casual, gothic to preppy, and everything in between.

Aphrodite Dress (Ladybug)

This adorable dress is exclusive to Fashion Dazzle. This is probably the cutest dress I have in my entire inventory right now. The little antennae on the front really give it that playful look while still being elegant. You can change the look with layering as seen in the official advertisement below. Mix and matching leggings, jackets, and tight tops really change the feel of the dress. I love it so much! You can pick up the Aphrodite Dress in Ladybug at Fashion Dazzle for only L$100.
Note: Originally the post erroneously stated the dress was L$250. This has been fixed to show the correct price at $L100. Sorry for the confusion!

The Black Fair Is Back! (Ft. Maureen)

It’s time for the Black Fair! Purchasable at the fair is the exclusive Maureen skin by 7 Deadly s{K}ins. Images in this post feature Maureen as she visits the RMS Titanic.

Black Fair

Formerly known as the Black Fashion Fair, Black Fair is an event focused on the color black. While designers may have multiple products the exclusive products must have black as the dominant color. Of course items like poses and skins get a little leeway with this policy. Dozens of designers of all types can be found at this event. Black Fair runs through April 21, 2017.

Maureen

Maureen is another lovely low makeup skin from 7DS. Purchased by skin tone (16 tones sold separately) she comes with 5 different color eyebrow options for  L$750. She was designed for LAQ, however comes in Omega appliers. This post shows her off on Catwa‘s Lona. One of my favorite parts about this skin is the single HUD. One click and you’ve applied your head and body, and yes she uses the new body skins! I also love that she comes with an option for red eyebrows. Gingers, rejoice!

Maitreya Bento Hands – Lara 4.0 Is Live!

Last night Maitreya released Lara 4.0, the much anticipated bento update for the popular body. Most of my groups, even the ones not related to Maitreya, were filled with excited chatter about the new Maitreya bento hands. So many people tried to get to the store upon release that the sim had to be closed to the public for at least a few hours. The sim is open again, however it’s bustling with activity so you may have trouble getting in. No need to fear, if you already have Lara you don’t have to go to the sim to get your update!

Getting Your New Body

If you already own Lara you’ll most likely already have your update waiting for you when you log in. If this isn’t the case simply remove and reattach your current Lara body. This should trigger a redelivery. If this doesn’t work go to the Maitreya Store and use the redelivery terminal. Please bear in mind that this is a new update and things may be a little slow the first few days.

If you don’t own Lara you’ll have to purchase her. You can do this by visiting the store in world. Make sure to demo if you haven’t already, she’s a big and important purchase! At the time of this post she cost $L2750 and includes the body, classic and bento hands, feet, 5 shapes, and two bra/panty sets.

Maitreya Lara 4.0 Updates

Let’s start with the officially announced updates, shall we? Straight from Maitreya’s Update Card:

  • The hands are now rigged to the bento skeleton, allowing for finger movement. The classic hands are also still included in the package.
  • There are 14 hand poses added to the HUD (Skins & Options page), which can be used in combination with all your model poses and AOs.
  • There are 2 new nail shapes added: Stiletto nails and Almond nails, and the option for no nails (if you want to wear Maitreya compatible mesh nails made by other stores).
  • The skin textures have been adjusted to fit the new bento hands.

Digging Deeper

This update is primarily about the hands with small adjustments to the included skins and the HUD to further benefit the new Maitreya bento hands. As with the other bento hands the Maitreya hands are compatible with third party bento poses and AOs. Maitreya’s hands do not come with default idle animations.

Who Needs Mesh? Meet Magna

While many of us use fully mesh avatars some people do prefer the look (and price!) of the classic avatars, otherwise known as system avatars. Some people do a mix of both, utilizing a system head with a mesh body, mesh hands with the system body, or other combinations. Today check out this system skin Magna by 7 Deadly s{K}ins.

Magna At Designer’s Circle

Designer’s Circle is a constantly rotating event. Each session runs for two weeks before taking a small break and opening anew with fresh products. It’s a wonderful place to get quality poses, clothing, skins, and more for low prices. The current Designer’s Circle ends on April 15.

7DS brought Magna to the event this round, further proving that even though mesh is popular there is still demand for systems skins. Magna comes in Cotton Candy, Sand, Apricot, Taupe, and Cashew. Each skin tone can be purchased for L$199 and includes four versions: with brows and freckles, with brows and no freckles, with freckles and no brows, and no brows no freckles. Also included is the matching skin tone’s Omega applier for mesh bodies. Please note the applier is only for bodies. The face is available only for system heads, not mesh heads. If you’re interested make sure to pick her up at Designer’s Circle before the 15th!

Yes, You SHOULD Be Using Demos!

Note: While the images are from 2017 products, the content has been reviewed and is up to date as of July 2020.

If you’re a regular to the blog you know I’m a firm proponent of demoing products before purchase. I’ve had people ask if and why demos in Second Life are really important. People have also told me that they don’t want to spend the extra time demoing a product they already know they’ll like. Demos are very important, even if you’re absolutely in love with the item! Today I’ll cover what to look for when demoing so you can learn why you should never skip the demo step if it’s available.

What’s A Demo?

Demos are inexpensive (usually free or 1 linden dollar) versions of products made for you to test out before making a final purchase. Think of demos as trying on new clothes or shoes before you buy them. You wouldn’t want to make a big purchase just to find that the jacket doesn’t fit and can’t be returned, would you? In addition to being inexpensive, demos also tend to have something missing or added so you don’t use it instead of the final product. This may be weird/missing textures, extra shapes, or even a timed product that can’t be used after a period of time passes. You wouldn’t want to wear a demo out to the party you’re heading to later. The entire point of the demo is to ensure the product is what you need before making the purchase.
